EXPERIENCE FOR KIDS

At the foot of the cliffs, the beaches

The closest to the villa is Miramar beach. You can reach it by walking down Avenue de l’Impératrice and taking a small street on the right, which leads to a staircase. It’s less than a 5-minute walk.

Further along, you’ll appreciate Grande Plage as you approach the casino. These beaches almost always have great waves and are ideal for surfing. Areas where surfing is prohibited are reserved for swimming.

I also recommend the very unique Port Vieux beach, which is a sheltered cove. It’s perfect for those looking for a beach without waves.

Tradition & sand, the beach club

A must-visit on Grande Plage, a friendly club with trampolines, swings, and other group games awaits your children.

The little Pottock (Basque Pony) and horse riding

For horse lovers, you must go to Artzamendi, the highest point of the Labourd province. There you will encounter many wild pottocks, the emblematic ponies of the Basque Country. It’s magical.

Biarritz and its region also boast excellent facilities for horse riding, especially the sublime Lortenia stables in Arcangues, which specialize in ponies.

The sport of 1956: Surf

Biarritz is, of course, one of the most popular surfing spots in the world. It was here, on the Basque coast, that surfing first appeared in Europe in 1956. You can surf on many beaches around the house.

Time travel: amusement park

Take your children to Monte Igueldo Park in San Sebastian. In 1912, on the heights of the magnificent Spanish bay, a park was created that is as charming as its views are breathtaking. Far, far from current modernity, step back in time and enjoy these old-fashioned attractions.

Treasure hunt: the terrifying Blackbeard

Picasso’s painting Les Baigneuses, the propeller of the ship Frans Hals, White Squirrel, Argentine Stirrups… The terrifying Blackbeard has hidden clues either in the house or in the city. Depending on the participants’ age, a fantastic adventure awaits both children and adults to get their hands on the precious treasure.

EXPERIENCES TO DISCOVER

1960s / 1970s: the most beautiful cars

Combine the discovery of Biarritz with the prestige of a vintage car to transport yourself through space and time.

Choose models from the 60s/70s: MGA 1500, Peugeot 404, Triumph Spitfire, Fiat 500, to explore the Basque Country, especially the scenic coastal road between Saint Jean de Luz and Hendaye.

Find a treasure in a flea market

Just a stone’s throw from the villa, the Cinq Cantons flea market, held on the 2nd Sunday of each month, features around fifty exhibitors where you can hunt for unusual, vintage, or collector’s items.

The village of Ahetze hosts the largest flea market in the Basque Country on the 3rd Sunday of each month. This sprawling event is full of treasures and attracts merchants from France and Spain.

Unusual but cultural

The region is rich in many treasures to visit. Here are the most interesting and unusual ones:

  • Villa ARNAGA: Cyrano de Bergerac awaits you in a magical house.
  • Château ABBADIA: This eccentric castle allowed the mapping of thousands of stars. The decorative bestiary is fascinating.
  • ZUGARRAMURDI Witches’ Museum: just a stone’s throw from the Sare cave, discover the history of the Basque Country’s witches.

Invaders Hunt

If you’re not already a hunter, download the SPACE INVADERS app and go in search of the INVADERS from Bayonne to Guéthary, passing through Biarritz. It’s an original way to discover the region by hunting the 60 mosaics placed by the artist.

Share the Empress's beauty

Following in the footsteps of Empress Eugénie de Montijo, reach her palace in a 3-minute walk to enjoy the best treatments at the Imperial SPA – Guerlain. Facing the ocean, with 2,500 m2 of space dedicated to beauty and well-being, you will find an indoor pool, a hammam, a sauna, and nine treatment rooms.

Learn how to make

The Basque Country carefully preserves several ancestral traditions and skills. We invite you to discover workshops to understand how these products are made:

  • Basque Fabric
  • Iraty Cheese
  • Espelette Pepper
  • Espadrille
  • Irouleguy Wine

SPORTS EXPERIENCES

Yoga Paradise

Biarritz is one of the most popular destinations for practicing yoga. Many teachers offer a wide variety of practices and locations.

On the beach, in a park, on a rooftop terrace, or facing the ocean, everyone will find the perfect setting for practicing this sport. Every year, our establishment hosts highly successful seminars.

Learn with a pro: Basque pelota

The Jaï-Alaï in HOSSEGOR is a historic Basque pelota venue built next to the magnificent Art Deco Sporting Casino.

It hosted the world championships in 1958. A pelotari offers introductions to this sport, teaching you how to handle the famous Grand Chistera.

One of the oldest golf courses in the world

The Basque Country is a golf paradise, boasting numerous courses. Biarritz Golf – Le Phare, created in 1888, is the second oldest golf course in Europe.

Located right in the city, you can reach it on foot in less than 5 minutes from the house.
